Nice to meet you

Greetings, world!
My name is Mikhail.

pronounced in American English as “me-kale”)! I’m here to introduce myself briefly and get my voice out there into the word a bit more. I am a jack of all trades, a xenophile, Yiddishist, and nemophilist, lover of cats, cooking, and simple serenity. I currently am planning on furthering my studies of history and have studied Jewish History of Eastern and Central Europe with the Charles University in Prague and have an extensive background in language acquisition, travel counseling, and customer relations within the telecommunications sector.

How it all started?

Never stop wandering

So first and foremost, this shall be a space where I aim is to cultivate an area of learning, tranquility and meditation, provide my insight on various topics, share my adventures, products, passions, and with any luck, provide something delightful to whomever may visit my little space on this grand network.

Navenadnik (נאַווענאַדניק): A noun from Eastern Yiddish hailing from Hebrew origin meaning a wayfarer, wanderer, a bird of passage if you will. Because of its simple, yet complex truth, I identify with it whole-heartedly due to my personal life experiences and those of my ancestors.
At its root, we have the Hebrew word for wanderer, נָע וָנָד, followed by the Yiddish suffix, a borrowed grammatical feature from Russian (ניק-/-ник) married together with the eastern Ashkenazi prosody to create a true word that embodies one who wanders and breathes in the wonders of this word in its unique beauty from all corners.

This website is the product of a framework I’ve wanted to develop for quite some time; in its current form, it is but a seed which will hopefully grow in time to become something of a clearinghouse for an array of topics, ranging from travel, fashion, Persian calligraphy, Ashkenazi herbology, rants, photography, fitness, and everything in between given time. In the meantime, please enjoy some of the readied areas as I share my adventures and give a glimpse of life as a modern navenadnik. Please enjoy!
